Dive Master

Your adventure into the professional levels of recreational diving begins with the PADI Divemaster program. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you will expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to a professional level. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. The PADI Divemaster must display strong physical skills, fitness, ability and proper attitude to safely organise and conduct dives.

You must:

  •  be a PADI Advanced Open Water diver (or equivalent), a PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent)
  • Be 18 years old
  • Have logged 20 dives for entry to course and 60 dives for certification as a PADI Divemaster
  • Have 1st Aid and CPR training certification from Emergency First Response, DAN or other qualifying organisation no older than 12 months
  • Have a ‘fit to dive’ medical from a qualifying doctor no older than 12 months
  • 2 passport photos

You will complete:
  • Knowledge development: 12 topics ranging from dive theory to assisting student divers in training
  • Problem solving
  • Confined water training, including demonstration level dive skills and stamina challenges
  • An underwater mapping project
  • An internship working with real students
Your Divemaster course will take approximately 3 weekends to complete excluding internship and mapping project.


Course Fee:

$1195.00. A $200 deposit will secure your place on the course, with the balance due on the first day. You will be provided with your PADI Divemaster manual, Encyclopaedia of Recreational Diving, Diving Knowledge Workbook, Divemaster application package, air fills and personal ID card.

Equipment Requirement:
Full SCUBA, SMB (surface marker buoy), whistle or horn, dive knife, gloves, snorkel, Recreational Dive Planner (3 versions: Table, wheel and eRDP, including associated Instructions for Use booklets), Divemaster slates, instructor guides for the programmes that may be conducted by a PADI Divemaster (Discover Scuba Diving, Discover Snorkelling/Skin Diver, Scuba Review/Discover Local Diving)

Recommended:
Pocket mask, First Aid Kit, Reel, and Basic Tool Kit. Once certified, a Divemaster must have current PADI membership and insurance in order to work as a dive professional.

Note:
It is recommended that you purchase your own equipment at this level of training. Equipment may be hired from Adelaide Scuba at a cost of $195.00 for the course.
