John Bent

– PADI IDC Staff Instructor / Sales Team

John has extensive experience in the scuba diving industry including instructor qualifications in recreational and technical diving. In addition to John’s experience in diver training, John has also owned and operated his own diving businesses in Adelaide and Guam, Micronesia. Originally running Adelaide Skin Diving Centre which along with Glenelg Scuba Diving Centre/Adelaide Scuba has been Adelaide’s leading dive centres for many years. John has dived in many parts of the world and brings to Adelaide Scuba an added wealth of knowledge. John is regularly on site and is happy to share his experience and knowledge with any keen individual.

 

Joel Pringle

– Assistant Manager / PADI MSDT Instructor

Joel brings his enthusiasm for the underwater world to the dive team, with extensive experience in the aquarium trade his passion for marine life is truly inspiring. Completing his PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor over 5 years ago he has since trained in recreational and technical areas including cave, rebreather, sidemount and photography. Joel’s knowledge of dive gear is extensive and he is a leading member of the store and instructional team.

 

 Mark Norstorm

– PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

Mark joined the team over 3 years ago as a Divemaster with extensive experience travelling and diving throughout Asia, he is committed to sharing his passion for diving with others and is one of our core Instructors teaching entry level dive training through to specialties. He has built significant local diving experience and is a valuable asset to our training team.

 

Brenton Druery

– PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer

Brenton joined the team as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer who had worked for some time throughout Asia building his experience. He has a passion for Technical diving and shipwreck exploration and extensive experience in Deep and Wreck Diving including the wrecks of the South China Sea. After relocating to Adelaide from Sydney he has become a local and an experienced core Instructor in our team. You can find him teaching entry level courses right through to Advanced and a number of specialties.

David Raymond

– PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer

David is one of our Senior Instructors who brings a wealth of knowledge in diver training to the dive team. David learnt to dive in Adelaide and has been diving through the facility for many years. David is actively training all levels of SCUBA and is generally found out on the boats guiding divers on and around some of Adelaide’s favourite dive sites. As an experienced cave diver, David also enjoys spending his time in Mount Gambier and has been lucky enough to explore some of the world’s premier cave sites in Mexico and Florida.

Erika Sullivan

– PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

Erika moved to Glenelg, South Australia from Toronto, Canada and is a Vet by night and diver by day. As one of our regular divers she advanced her training right through to Divemaster & spent time assisting on courses and guiding dives. She has recently completed her Assistant Instructor course locally and is currently in the process of completing her PADI Instructor Examinations in Malapascua, Philippines. Always an advocate for Marine life, she is particularly passionate about sharks and their protection in our Oceans.
We look forward to her return and seeing her back in the water.

Diana Fernie

– PADI Course Director

Diana first learnt to dive at the tender age of 8 on a hookah system in the Middle East. She certified as a diver in 1997 and has been working in the industry since 1999. Born in England, she has travelled and lived in some exotic and exciting places throughout her life. Now settled in Adelaide, she continues to look for new and exciting challenges. Over 1000 dives. Specializing in all levels of diver training. Extensive local, interstate and overseas experience. Daisy is passionate about sharks, deep, wreck diving and photography, above and below the surface.

 

Richard Fernie

– PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

As a long standing member of the Adelaide Scuba team, Richard brings his energetic spirit and layed back persona to the instructional team. Richard has worked extensively as a PADI Divemaster for the facility for some time up until 2011 when he completed his PADI Instructor Development Course. With much anticipation he finally has now reached his dreams of becoming an Open Water Instructor. With a huge passion for SCUBA, which runs in the family, Richard continues to build his own skills and knowledge whilst sharing the sport with others. With a passion for deep, wreck, and cave diving Richard brings emence talent to the team and is found regularly exploring the reef and wreck systems off the coastlines of South Australia.

 

Nic Fernie

– PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer

Nic started diving as a child and has travelled to many locations worldwide. Nic brings a h5 passion and enthusiasm for the sport of scuba diving. With a background in sound engineering Nic’s diverse knowledge in a variety of fields is an asset to the facility. Over 1000 dives, Nic has extensive local, interstate and overseas travel experience. Nic currently spends a lot of his time training new divers whilst gaining further experience as a trainer.

 

Guy Richardson

– PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

Guy is a regular in and out of the shop spending his time guiding and assisting on many of the dive programs here at Adelaide Scuba. Guy started diving with us in 2008 and has progressively continued his diver training all the way through to Open Water Scuba Instructor. He has since qualified at university as a Paramedic and been accepted into SA Ambulance Service. Guy’s in water skills and passion for training make him a valuable member of the team.

 

Shane Hill

– PADI Divemaster

Our regular dive guide and training assistant, Shane has been with Adelaide Scuba for the many years, his passion and enthusiasm for scuba diving is inspiring to say the least. Shane is an experienced diver with dive tales from around Australia and destinations including Guam and Chuuk ‘Truk Lagoon’, He is often onboard the weekly dives offering is assistance and showing many divers the true highlights of many of our local temperate water sites.

 

Alex Lea

– PADI Assistant Instructor

Alex joined the team as a Divemaster 2 years ago after working and diving throughout Queensland following her passion for the environment and marine life conservation. She is active within our local Reef Watch group and continues to develop her interests in this area. Since being a part of our team she has progressed to Assistant Instructor and now can be found assisting on entry level courses, advanced and specialties as well as guiding dives for travelling divers to locate Leafy Sea Dragons.

 

Adam Winterburn

– PADI Divemaster

Adam started his diving adventure many years ago and spent lots of time underwater with us as a regular and avid diver. In recent years he has progressed his training from Advanced diver right through to Divemaster and this has seen him become a valued member of our team both assisting on courses and fun diving. He has now had the pleasure of diving many beautiful spots around the world including extensive time spent in the Philippines diving the wrecks and reefs. Next on his list is Assistant Instructor and we wish him all the best in his training.

Nick Turich

– PADI Instructor / Boat Captain

Nick has extensive experience within the scuba industry working for many government departments including SARDI and SA Water. Nick has been associated with the facility for many years beginning his instructor training and completing many diver programs onsite with Glenelg Scuba Diving Centre. As a highly qualified Dive Medic, Nick spends majority of his time training and developing the First Aid courses with Adelaide Scuba. As one of the most experienced boat captains he is often out and about driving the boats to South Australia’s best dive sites.

 

Peter Hannan

– Boat Captain

Pete, our friendly boat captain, has been with Adelaide Scuba for the last couple of seasons and has been a valuable member of the team, his extensive knowledge of South Australian waters has proven to be a great asset. Pete is often driving the dive boats during the week and over the weekends and is always keen to have a chat. Pete has been involved in the diving industry for many years, along with John Bent they both were busy diving with Adelaide Skin Diving Centre, originally in the Adelaide city, next to the Central Markets.
