Even
with the best laid dive plans, there are times you encounter conditions beyond
your control.
The Oceanic Delta
4 is one hot new regulator ready to take on all challengers with improved performance,
new features, improved styling, and the new FDX-10 First Stage featuring our
exclusive Dry Valve Technology (D.V.T.) Features include:
- Diver adjustable
inhalation effort. Our Patented Dynamic Adjustment automatically maintains
inhalation effort throughout the dive.
- Adjustable
Venturi Switch (A.V.S.) for simple Dive/Pre-Dive Adjustment
- Paired with
the new FDX-10 Balanced Diaphragm featuring Oceanic's exclusive D.V.T. (Dry
Valve Technology) that helps put an end to flooded regulators without sacrificing
performance! D.R.T. is a revolutionary regulator technology designed to automatically
eliminate moisture and contaminants from entering your first stage even if
the dust cap is left off eliminating corrosion of critical internal components,
bacteria, internal hose deterioration and damaged gauges and computers.
"THE MOST INNOVATIVE REGULATOR
OF 2005!"
Scuba Diving Magazine, December 2005

ScubaLab Tester's Choice
"Hooked up to the breathing simulator, the Oceanic Delta 4 delivered
Very Good to Excellent performance in all the RMV/depth categories, earning
the highest simulator scores of all the regs in this price group. In ocean tests,
the reg was also a champion, collecting the highest total ergo score in its
price group. In particular, divers liked the swivel and the mouthpiece, and
felt both the adjustment knob and dive/pre-dive switch were easy to use, even
when wearing gloves." |

WORK
OF BREATHING
Did you know that it costs energy to breathe? The amount of energy your
regulator requires to move each liter of air is called work of breathing
(WOB). Lower work of breathing equals lower effort required to breathe
and increased comfort and safety during a dive.
How
to Read Work of Breathing Charts
The computer-generated breathing machine chart presented above
represents a regulator's performance per standards established by the
U.S. Navy's Experimental Diving Unit. Tests are conducted at 198 feet
with approximately 3000-psi supply pressure, 25 breaths per minute of
2.5 liters each.
(1)
Inhalation - The chart shows one complete breath cycle, starting
with inhalation on the left and continuing along the bottom to the right,
staying mostly below 0.0; thus the inhalation work of breathing is reported
in negative numbers.
(2)
Exhalation - The exhalation effort begins on the right and
runs across the top to the left. These are all positive numbers since
a diver (or the machine in this case) is blowing out (exhaling) rather
than inhaling.
(3)
WOB - The total area inside the loop formed by the two lines
is what the computer analyzes to calculate the regulator's total work
of breathing - the amount of energy the regulator requires to move each
liter of air.

The FDX10
is a great first stage. I really like the way the ports are angled, so that
the hoses are much more streamlined. The Dry Valve Technology is also a bonus,
I never have to worry about the dust cover not being on properly ever again.
The Delta 4 is my favorite second stage regulator. The 30 degree inline swivel
ensures it sits comfortably through an entire dive, putting an end to ‘jaw fatigue”.
The fact that it is user adjustable is also fantastic, I can go from pool diving
with my Scuba Rangers, to a deep wall dive, to shallow diving around the local
piers and my reg will always perform just the way I like it. Combined with the
FDX10 first stage this would be the best breathing regulator that I have dived
on.
Cheers,
Mel
Harbour Dive, Victoria
The FDX 10 Delta4
is an exceptional regulator. Its superior flow rate makes it perfect for all
types of diving. Whether I''m 60m down inside a wreck, battling a strong current
or chasing a wayward student the Delta4 is an easy-breathing, reliable regulator
that always performs above my expectations.
