Wreck Diving Specialty Course
Whether sunk on purpose as an artificial reef or the result of mishap, wrecks open fascinating windows to the past. Most divers find wrecked ships, airplanes and even automobiles nearly irresistible because they’re intriguing to explore, exciting avenues of discovery and usually teeming with aquatic life.
The PADI Wreck Diver course teaches you the ins and outs of rewarding, responsible wreck diving including helping with the development and mastery of necessary fundamental skills, knowledge and SCUBA techniques associated with diving on wrecks and in their overhead environments.
Join us for the beginning of your new and exciting adventure underwater. We will first conduct a theory workshop including the course registration and orientation session and knowledge development (theory) presentations. These presentations will guide you through the basics in maritime archaeology and responsible wreck diving techniques.
You will begin to delve into a practical workshop introducing you to the proper techniques of using reels and guideline underwater, useful in wreck diving and also in many other diving applications. In addition to the theory workshops, we will jump into the swimming pool to fine tune our buoyancy and workshop the correct techniques of trim (diver positioning) and propulsion techniques. This will prepare us for your open water training dives, scheduled shortly after; this is where you will demonstrate and reinforce the correct wreck diving techniques learnt in class, whilst exploring a number of South Australia’s premier shipwreck sites. During your final training and assessment dive we will complete a penetration into the internal structures of a wreck in a full overhead environment, under the direct supervision of your instructional team. The ultimate achievement in preparing you for your future wreck diving adventures.
You will learn:
- Learn wreck dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and hazards of wreck diving including emergency procedures
